I'm having this really weird problem and i hope one of you lads can help me out :)

It's like this:
I run around killing some people or get killed etc etc.
Suddenly i cant move and i see the modemplug icon on the lowerright of my screen with the spawn countdown... also on the mountain thingy with the lag sensor or whatever it is shows constant up and downs lookin like this /|/|/|/|/|
And well .. the game gets stuck while I can see others moving and chatting and doing their business

So... any ideas? :oops:

yea i have the same recently.. it started 2day its really weird.. i know spirit and me use the same cfg.. but i never had ne probs with it.. i tought it was just my connection.. (my cable is kinda weird)...

well, if it didnt stop by tomorrow i ll reinstall wolf, and try it without my cfg.. if that works i ll let ya know..

mine did that it was a computer seting was messed up i have 2 nic and it was sendint threw one and receving with other and on of the cables got unpluged so i could see every thing happening but i couldent move or do any thing

k, mine is solved..

what i did was;

i found the default cfg for rtcw..



config here


ok, copy the red part, and open Notepad (dutch; kladblok), save it as "x.cfg" (without the quotes ofcourse :O) in the return to castle wolfenstein/main dir.. open wolf, join a banimod server like ours, type in console: /exec x.cfg; vid_restart

hope it will help!

PS: its really really dark!! arghh that suxx, im sure it wasnt the cfg we had.. bcuz im using it for over 3 months and never had ne problem with it :/[/list]

and im even more sure, a p4 could handle rtcw easy, so that eint the problem...

i dont think its something that we did.. bcuz when i had that, i quit wolf.. opened pathfinder (a server source for rtcw), and all server was on the list.. except the fun servers.. eint that wierd.. argh

Since ur comps suck, did u try just turning down the settings on the options menu rather then the .cfg?

Actually.. mines sucks his rocks :oops:

And i already have gone through the options several times to try and reduce the lag ( which imo has worked.. a bit)
Also I don't have a clue how cfg's or whatever it is works so i doubt it has to do with it

Anyway we think the problem lies with our isp's... so it's something we can't do much about

i looked at <font color=#FF33CC><b>teh pwnz0rer</b></font>'s route to FuN servers last nite and he's hitting a bad server in amsterdam, which making his ping go high, if ure with same isp i would think u could have same problem spirit :?

erf, i h8 them!! this mornin it was working, and now i have above 100 ping again.. thats way 2 high!! i should b like 30-40...

if ure isp (or the service providers they route through) are working on their servers, they may route all traffic thru one main place, hence when there is a lot of internet traffic, u will get higher pings, which is what is happening to <font color=#FF33CC><b>teh pwnz0rer</b></font> i believe, looking at his trace route he showed me, yesterday his ping was normal, but then went higher later in the day.

bit late but.... Online games only use a few Kbs, So someone on a 3Mb line and someone on a 512 line wont notice any difference. especially if their upload is capped at the same *which most are* 125/256. Ping is basically your latency *time from client to server*. If you use pingplotter to trace your route to the game server you will find out which server has a slow relay rate. Meaning when you do a whois etc on the server you will eventually come across the server owners phone number.You can use this to make threatening phone calls or perhaps trouble shoot with your isp.
