Memory issues

previous to my new installation of mem.i had 768ddr...that ran smoothly n was quick and u noticed it,but now i got 1024mb.only 1.0gb seems to b registered and it seems to b slower that 768mb,answer that 1 for me then coz i am confuzzled :S
