I'd love to do a modded case for my next pc, but since I hide it in the cabinet in my desk, kinda don't see the point :P Love to do one all lit up with some red or blue neon, clear sides, etc etc.

I figured it out, for close to $600 I can get:
-an AMD Sempron 64 300+
-a Sapphire ATI Radeon x1300 with 512MB of video RAM
-2 x 512MB of DDR 400 RAM
-an ASUS mobo
-a 120GB HDD
-a case with power supply and fans
-a KVM because I already got the peripherals

What do you guys think? (Keep in mind, this is in Canadian dollars)

Hi guys, i´m here again tobl cause i dunno if you get the conversation while playing about gfx cards.

Well imo and i read a lot of hardware testing and reviews, by the price you spoke on server you can get better gfx then x1300, don´t get me wrong i like ati better too, as i´m an amd freak, but you should consider Geforce 6600GT(as proven is valour) on ATI side you can see X800GTO, enormous power and overclocking hability, but not so good on shader tech as new x1000 series, and all seems to point shader tech as the future. So in that range of price at least in portugal you have one x1600xt of club 3d...special one onx1600 series, cause it have vpu 590mhz, but mem gddr3 with mem freq=1400Mhz, beats geforce in almost all new games, but notice not in all old ones. If you have any doubts just say

Thanks for the info Terrible, I'll look into it further. I think in the end, if the difference is a small amount of cash, I'll buy which ever one is best. I haven't looked into video cards in years, my other PC has a Radeon 9000. To give you an idea of when I bought it, the 9000 had just been released :P I'll will for sure check out review and some benchmarks... who knows, I might find a spec for spec comparison between the two cards. Besides, I'm probably not gonna be picking up the parts for another month or so. I appreciate all you help Terrible, it helps a lot!

Cool man, I'll keep it in mind. If you can get me components cheaper that would be nice, cause lord knows every buck I save is another thing I could buy. I think I have a sick obsession though, seeing as how I already have two Mac desktops and an IBM Thinkpad... ahem

Depends on what you need and it would be marginally cheaper, no kind of INCREDIBLE UNBELIEVABLE deals, but every buckaro counts...
